Allies for Justice

Allies for Justice (AFJ) is a campaign group for people with lived experience of navigating the UK’s asylum system, immigration detention and deportation system.

We are passionate and committed to campaigning and we use our lived experience as a form of expertise, together with our other knowledge and skills, to challenge the cruelty of immigration detention, the broken asylum system and the injustice of deportation policies.

We believe in a humane, fair and just immigration and asylum system. Our mission is to create real and positive change. We are an integral part of the Detention Action family and we work collaboratively with Detention Action in its campaigns work, bringing our experience and expertise into the organisation and its work.

AFJ MEMBERS:

Winnie – Fundraising and Partnerships Volunteer

Winnie is a lived experience campaign volunteer who values human rights and justice for everyone. She carries out advocacy and campaigns around the issues affecting people seeking asylum and others in the UK immigration system.

She also acts as the assistant fundraising and finance coordinator for Allies For Justice, raising funds by working closely with donors and partners as well as organising and coordinating events.

Ruudi – Visual Arts and Content Creation Volunteer

David – Media Lead

David is passionate about the wellbeing of people seeking asylum and achieving justice for them. In his work as Media Lead, he produces social media content and responds to press requests for AFJ. He is determined to use lived experience of the system to challenge indefinite immigration detention and unjust deportation policies.
